Exanding our Vision

Mindfulness as the first step  on an instant journey to Eternity

A retreat with Thay Doji

Sept 30 to Oct 4, 2020 at Green Acre, Eliot, Maine

In this intimate retreat Thay Doji will offer practical exercises to explore the basic questions of what is meditation and why we practice meditation.

We will look at whether we use meditation to avoid, or reduce, the hardships of our experience of present reality, or whether we are trying to make ourselves into someone or something else.

As we explore these questions, answers, non-answers, resistances, etc., we touch our capacity for seeing the world, our self-imposed limiting views, and our innate ability to expand both our view and reality.

Expressing a common experience to us all, Thay Doji says “I have often hesitated to sit, or walk, or practice, but I never regret it afterwards.”

Exploring these themes through practical exercise, inquiry, life, and culture, we will be guided into the constant process of touching the ultimate.

These teachings are rooted in Thay Doji’s experiences as a Zen monk for the past 35 years.  Thay Doji spent a decade at the Sogen-ji temple in Japan under Shodo Harada Roshi and then returned to France, living for the next decade in Plum Village, studying with the Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh.  For the past 17 years he has been a beloved Dharma teacher for many communities, spanning the U.S., Europe, and Japan. He is an eloquent, master, teacher whose teachings of presence and practice transcend words.

The retreat will be held at the Green Acre Bahai Retreat Centre in Eliot, ME, 1 hour north of Boston. The majestic campus is located on the Piscataqua river and has served spiritual groups for over a century, including the first Yogic teachers to come to the West.

The retreat starts on Wednesday at 5:30pm with dinner  (there will be an optional deep relaxation at 4pm for those arriving earlier).  It ends on Sunday after lunch (1:30pm).

The cost is $550 for a shared room, or $775 for a private room (and private bathroom).  Commuter cost is $250. This covers the actual food and lodging expenses.  In accordance with traditional Buddhist monastic values, there is no fee for the teachings, however, during the retreat you will also be able to offer Dana to the teacher (Thay Doji).

Cancellations – full refund minus $50 prior to July 1. 50% prior to September 1, none thereafter.
